Ascham School Intranet
Ascham is a non-selective, day and boarding girls’ school. Founded in 1886, Ascham provides a solid academic program within a friendly, inclusive culture and is known for its liberal arts curriculum, the Dalton Plan and extensive co-curricular offerings.
Ascham School is well known for its progressive thought leadership, and this extends to the use of digital technologies to better serve parents, students and staff. Ascham needed an intranet that would improve how we connect, communicate and collaborate across our community and enable us to respond promptly with accurate and reliable information.
I’ve been working for Scribble & Think with Ascham School since 2011, following our initial response to a website re-design brief. Our strategic review and brand audit had identified that the school needed a more holistic approach to improving its communication.
We’re firm advocates of such systems as they allow for increased staff and student engagement, consistent communication of the brand and an efficient means of business process evolution. For Ascham, we worked with many different teams and stakeholder groups to identify, plan, design, build and deliver ‘The Ascham Hub’, a comprehensive, whole-of-community solution. The Hub provides access and information for everyone from students to teachers and parents with personalised timetables, calendars, notices, forms and user profiles, all within the visual framework we’ve developed across the school.
The Hub was launched, and adoption was immediate, resulting in increased productivity and efficiencies. Admin can personalise the view for parents and students and send notices in an instance. Parents and students can now see their calendar of activities and easily submit forms. Everyone can rely on the knowledge that the content on the Hub is always the most up-to-date version.
As part of the success of this project, we undertake a similar consultancy role with several pan-Australia organisations, assisting in intranet planning and design strategies for their systems, ensuring brand frameworks are implemented appropriately.
